Yellow headed Black Birds
The other morning we were getting ready to go to Ogden for Lon's Double Heart Stints and in our backyard was about 5 or 6 Yellow Headed Black Birds. This picture doesn't pick them out much but hopefully you can tell they have yellow heads.Empty Boxes - Decorations???

We finally emptied some boxes that have been sitting in the laundry room for what 3 years? Found all these baskets. So this is what I decided to do. We had no window treatment in the Laundry Room. Not sure if this is window dressing or what. Someone's opinion (other than Dad's) would be appreciated!!!

2009 Malcolm Victory Garden

Here are some pictures of our garden this year. I am not sure why they call gardens Victory but I would probably call it something else. I feel I have been a slave to it since we began planting this spring. But no matter what it is called it is doing great. We have picked peas, dug potatoes, and of course the squash is doing well. This year I planted spaggetti squash. I have alot of babys right now. Anyway take a walk through our garden.
Summer Activity

For two summers now we have been fighting the weeds that have been super charged with grow juice of come kind. I know that Lon and I talked about planting grass in the orchard but some how last summer that thought was lost. Again this spring as I was chopping down the weeds it came to me that if we plant grass I won't have to tackle the weeds but Lon could mow them. This project has been on going for a while. We have hauled in some dirt, from the big pile next door, to cover the rocks that are in mass under the surface, then smoothed that out, chop weeds down as they begin to grow, have the drip system replaced with sprinklers, chop down weeds, put landscape edging around the trees, smoothed the surface and rake the rock that escaped to the surface, chop down the weeds. We now are just about to plant the grass seed. Anyway here is what It looked like last week.Wednesday, May 13, 2009
Pot of gold!!!

This is a rainbow, actually a double rainbow, which appeared as a rain, thunder, hail, and wind storm blew through the Logan valley. If you look closely you can see the other rainbow just above the bright one. No we did not find the pot of gold. Also you will notice there is not snow and the appearance of green in front of the house.

Andrew's Prom

Andrew's Tux finally arrived the day before the prom. Because the store messed the order up they home delievered it. This was nice of them I guess but we were not pleased with the goof up they made of the order.
This is Andrews idea of what one should look like in a Tux!!!
The hat is a given. That is the only security he had. He did leave it behind for the special night.

Wild Life in our backyard . . .
This is a yellow headed blackbird. I hope you can see it clear enough. They have been flying through the backyard. I believe I saw four on the neighbors roof the other day. This one is in our cherry tree. Yes this is a cherry tree. One morning this week Lon and I were working in the garden and I looked up and two male pheasants were flying directly at me. They saw the abstuction ahead, me, and diverted before! ! It can be dangerous working out side.
Fox Whisperer ! ! !

Lon, Andrew and I spent Easter weekend with Doug and Teresa and family at Teresa's Dad's place in Evergreen just out of Denver. Sunday morning Andrew was taking things out to the car and out of the corner of his eye he saw something moving. A red fox came within two feet of him. It became nervious and ran off. On his second trip out there it was again. He was able to take Dad's camera out of the bag and take pictures of the fox. I was at the end of the driveway and got the pictures of him and the fox. We are not sure why it was so friendly. Maybe the musk smell of Andrews deorderent and not shower that morning was calling the wild. . .
